Fun. Be prepared to walk up steep a hill. Very interesting place with great views and an excellent little restaurant which is worth the visit itself.

We went on a day when there were a lot of people and so we could only find a parking spot about half way up. The walk is steep and there were loads of slippery cobbles which, without the correct footwear, might be difficult for...More

We just happened upon this wonderful castle! Driving in from Milan, we saw the sign and just pulled in. What a treasure! It's beautiful, well maintained and some parts still under renovation. The beautiful rooms with murals is like stepping back in time! We explored...More

A short hike up the hill and you will gain the rewards from your efforts. You will see the most breathtaking views of the valley. The castle has two secrets. One of them is the frescoes of the 14th century that retain their vivid color...More

We actually arrived at the Castle by taking a hiking trail which started near our B&B in Avio. This was a great end to our hike and each area/room/section of the castle was interesting and filled with historical background. It's not a super-long tour or...More

We stopped here on the way to destinations in Austria, the day turned out to be one of my life's most favorite days, ever... Words don't do the memories justice so I'll leave it to the other reviewers... It was Life Experience Day...

Unfortunately we came in a period of the year when the castle itself was closed so we could only delight ourselves in the amazing views of the valley bellow. I guess visiting the castle can only add to that.

It's an impeccable castle up on the side of a mountain, unreachable other than by the steep slope. The views are incredible. There are 15th century frescoes in a couple of different places, beautifully preserved, and lovely to see. Be warned, it's uphill to get...More

The castle was beautiful and I very much enjoyed the fact that this is a self-guided tour where you can go at your own pace and are free to explore whatever you would like. The castle is in ruins but has preserved frescoes that are...More
