About
The Marble Interpretation Center is conceived as a cultural space where history, tradition, innovation and future harmoniously coexist to offer us a vision of the Macael marble culture. It fulfills a triple function as visitor reception center, tourist information point and interpretive space that enables a contextualization of the Macael marble culture. Inside there are 22 panels, with information in Spanish and English. Together with them, the exhibition of different pieces and elements contributes to making the visit more attractive, participative and experiential.

Marble is a marvel
Jul 2021
The visit develops in the museum and outside at the mines. The guide, Carmen, is so knowledgeable and passionate about these quarries that you get enticed into the wonders of marble mining and craftwork. You get amazed by the historical remarks, the anecdotes about stonecutters and the objects from ancient civilisations. You can experience all stages of marble extraction with the virtual reality glasses and develop your sculpting skills with a drill. The walk around the excavations and the surrounding mountains is astonishing. We all enjoyed thoroughly this experience thanks to Carmen, a dedicated guide that puts her heart and soul into it. She is a great ambassador of Macael.

Great tour of the site! Highly recommended :)
Mar 2017 • Friends
We had a really interesting tour of the extraction site from a lovely women who worked at the museum. She agreed to show us around on Sunday, even after they had closed which was so kind of her to do! She was very informative and enthusiastic and helped make our time travelling there well worth the visit! The tour was very educational and interactive and were even able to keep some of the marble as a souvenir. The whole thing lasted about 2.5 hours in total. Would highly recommend this to anyone interested in the marble extraction process and wants to learn more! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit :)

Well worth a visit -not just for rock hounds.

A really interesting centre staffed by two lovely girls who despite having only a smattering of English were very helpful.
There is a short 15 minute film with English sub titles about the history of marble extraction and the future.
Lots of exibits with Spanish and English explanations.
Never knew that Silestone was invented in Spain.
Also there was a dummy block of marble used in the filming of Exodus in 2013.
In all well worth the visit.
Open 10 -2 and 6-8 summer,5-7 winter. Closed Monday and Sunday afternoons
