The maintenance of the temple is flawless, and the details of the architecture have been well maintained. It is a good place but do not visit during the afternoon when its hot as you cant wear footwear and the floor is made of rocks which gets extremely hot.

The star shape temple (a Hoysala dynasty characteristic), has the most mesmerizing sculptures, gravity pillar that stands tall on its weight sans any foundation, Mohini Pillar (with carving of Lord Vishnu’s female avatar) and the Hoysala emblem and most beautiful Shila-Balikas or Madnikas (Darpan-sundari, Shuk-Bhashini, Sandesh-Vahini, RoopGarvita there are total 18 different madnikas),

Indian architectural excellence in all its glory! If you get awed by modern day buildings, you will get overawed by this 1,100 AD architectural marvel that was in the works for 100+ years. Built by sculptors and architects supported by three generations of the Hoysala kings, the temple is worth everyone's time and effort. The technology used in those days... More

We as a family visited the Belur, Halebid, and Shravanabalegola complex recently. These are extraordinarily beautiful ancient temples. It's a shame that world tourists are not very much aware of these absolute beauties. These temples are so very beautiful that in fact this deserves to be a grater attraction to that monument in Agra, northern India. All of you, please... More
