Visiting this town and castle is like taking a step back in time. My only regret is that there wasn't an English tour. You are required to join the tour group there is no wondering on your own.

I took a small group to visit the castle.I pre booked a guide online since the opening times seemed rather erratic. We had a good guided tour and enjoyed the views from the top.The castle dominates the town and is worth a visit for the photo opportunities alone.Moderate price and value for money.

Sadly the castle was closed the day I decided to go. Tripadvisor did warn me of that, but I decided to go see the town anyway. It is such an amazing place. The locals have kept this wonderful, beautiful small town as it was in the 13 century, with just a few modern updates. I had lunch at a restaurant... More

My wife and I joined an Italian-speaking group to tour this lovely castle. Whilst we only picked up bits of the guide description, there were others in the group with enough English to fill in the gaps. The castle was surprisingly extensive having been added to by several generations. Some of the fortifications were impressive, especially in the most recently... More

This is a perfect example of what a castle should be for a child. Perched right on top of the hill in Sermoneta it commands 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. It is quite a feat to get to the castle entrance as you have to scale the slippery cobble steps and paths through this gorgeous medieval town. You... More

A castle from the 13th century, a strategic point between Rome and Naples, a military fortress build and rebuild by a pope and the Caetani family, even the Borgia family. The main tower hosts the tent-bed of the lord of the castle in perfect state. You can visit the battlements and a secret passage, used to escape. Should check the... More

This castle which dominates the hill town of Sermoneta is the former residence of the ruling Caetani family. It is a magnificent and well-maintained medieval castle within steps of the town's piazza. It offers a fascinating story of the strategic importance of the town in the medieval period and is week worth taking the tour. I was surprised by the... More

What a unique experience to stroll through a medieval village still functioning today. The structures are old but the people are modern. The castle was fun to tour and the village nostalgic to walk through. No cars are allowed inside - the streets are too narrow. Cars have to be parked outside the castle gates. Convenient buses from surrounding towns... More

We were fortunate to receive a special tour of this castle. It is not an easy place to find to or visit on one's own, but our local friends took us there and arranged for a tour. It is a fascinating castle with a very interesting history, located in a hilltop town that still looks medieval. I would love to... More
