Well worth a visit! A few small improvement can make this an even better experience.

Both the gardens and the castle itself are well presented. The audio tour is very valuable addition.

Due to the many steps (some are awkward by design, I leaned today), a visit to the castle itself is not very suitable for those who are mobility impaired.

Organisation-wise a few improvement can easily be made. First of all, you don't need to queue to pick up the audio tour from the courtyard - all tours are available online from 'map my visit'. I accessed it through the QR code on the sign by the garden entrance and found that the audio tours for the rest of the castle and grounds are there as well. Repeating the QR code in the courtyard will save many visitors an unnecessary queue. Make sure you bring the earphones for your phone or tablet!
When I arrived, I still needed to queue for a good 10 minutes on a Tuesday afternoon even though I had booked in advance.
And if you're visiting with a stroller/pushchair, it can be tricky to leave the ground through the turnstiles
And finally, a decent place to park your bicycle would very convenient.

Lovely romantic castle
Aug 2021 • Couples
Lovely romantic Castle just outside Amsterdam in the town of Muiden. Part of the Unesco World Heritage stelling van Amsterdam and Hollandse Waterlinie.

There are several audio tours. The knights route takes you inside the living rooms inside the castle. The Tower route takes you into the towers. Small cafe and shop are present on site. Make sure you visit the lovely castle gardens as well.

When you park in the town you have several options. free parking on Parking P2 and a 15 min walk along the river towards the castle or a paid parking (very small) next to the castle.

Wonderful castle
Aug 2020 • Solo
Muiderslot is well renovated middle age castle full of history. Here is knight gears and walls. Whole package. Visiting this castle takes at least couple of hours. Good shoes are recommended. You can reach this target also with bike from Amsterdam (routes are easy and clear, takes approximately 1 hour, if you ride without hurry). There is parking slots for cars but I did not find parking slot for the bike which was kind of surprise, but not a problem.

Magical!
Mar 2020
We had one last day in the Netherlands, and decided this would be where we spent it! Getting there was a little work - from Amsterdam Central, take the train to Weesp, and then a bus to Muiden. Our timing was a little off, so we had to wait in Weesp at the station for awhile, but we just stopped in the cafe at the station and had some snacks and coffees. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the castle from the bus stop. Seriously such a magical place! The audioguide tour was really interesting, too. We weren't sure what to expect, but this ended up being one of my daughter's favorite things about our vacation.

Wonderful

Lovely experience at this castle on a crisp, windy March morning. We loved touring the interior and exterior of this 13th Century castle. Staff were very friendly, but then that seems to be the Dutch.

Magical visit to a caste!
Feb 2020
It was surprising to see the castle well preserved. In some of the halls, the royal dishes were kept in display. The castle was surrounded by moats, garden and a plum orchard. The views from the watch tower were simply magnificent! There was a souvenir shop and a small cafe to take home some memorabilia.

Watch videos of the castle in my youtube channel listed in my profile!

Just fun

Small and easy to navigate. The grounds are pretty, as is the quaintness of Muiden. Nice for an afternoon or morning trip from Amsterdam.

Ideal prace to relax
Jun 2019
The castle is located abou 15 kilometres sothwest from Amsterdam in the village Muiden. There are beautiful gardens around, ideal place to relax. The castle is wonderful place for children (families or school trips) to enjoy options of the castle. For example they can borrow costumes and make some photos. The village Muiden is good place to have a cup of coffee or lunch.

What a wonderful place!
Dec 2019 • Family
This is my most favorite place while staying in Amsterdam. You get to take a train to Weesp station. The walk is quite long from station. I'd recommend getting Uber. Also, there is nothing else in the town to eat. Either being your own food, or eat in cafe after the tour. The audio tour is very engaging. You feel like walking through middle ages which is my favourite thing to go. The area around the castle and within is very picturesque. I’d recommend taking as many pictures as you can. When you leave the castle, turn left to the other end and take pictures from there. It's a nice spot for a family picture.
