Working Windmill
Jul 2018 • Family
We had planned this prior to heading along to the market in Sprakenburg on a Saturday morning. Really friendly people working there. You have steep steps to come up and down but it's worth it!! You,could buy the different flours that are ground here. We parked just opposite. The brasserie/ coffee shop attached in the old stables was a perfect spot for our morning coffee. We really enjoyed the visit.

Windmill "De Hoop"
Oct 2016 • Couples
It is a "grain" windmill. It's still working and you can buy the flour from this place. They have many kind of flour such corn, wheat, buckwheat, spelt, semolina, flour for making brownie, natural etc. Very friendly people who work there and they give you information you want to know. You can climb the windmill to see how it works and also get the nice view from the surrounding area

Visit on Wednesday or Saturday
Nov 2015
This old mill, with restaurant is a perfect place to visit. On the wednesday and saturday the mill is working. Tradional skills are needed to handle the complexity of windmill. Several enthousiastic -profesionnal- volunteers run the mill as in the "old days". Also on these days the shop is open to buy products produced in the mill. You can even buy old recepies with ingredients!

Pretty area
Jul 2015
We were very surprised at how pretty Spakenberg is, especially around the windmill. Sadly the mill was not open (open on Wednesday, apparently). Very nice cafe attached though.

Really Dutch
Aug 2015 • Couples
The windmill in Spakenburg is a typical Dutch feature. Although many mills were used to keep the lands dry, this one is to grind corn etc. into flour. You can buy this at the mill too. How bio/eco-friendly does it get?!

The mill itself is great too, and if you have a chance, climb to the top, great view of the village.

well worth short drive to
Sep 2013 • Couples
This is a working mill and the staff were more than happy to chat and explain anything you wanted to know, very proud of their facility.
You can explore all areas which in UK I suspect would be H&S cordoned off so if young child be aware.
There is a restaurant attached but go on market day and enjoy the market and towns facilities then the windmill.
Entry was free but donations welcome.
