Princessin castle with garden
Jul 2021 • Family
Interesting small castle with beautiful garden and terasses. Nice view from the tower, collection of baby strollers. I would excpect a bit more. Nice walk with a newest castle in Slovakia. Do not forget to visit also Driny Cave nearby.

Picturesque outside, nothing inside
Jul 2019
The castle in Small Carpathians, with fabulous park in English style - especially when you follow yellow tourist signs from Jahodnik, you are discovering its beautiful views step by step. All equipment and furniture from the castle were taken away from the castle, so there are no expositions inside. Also the accommodation is not the best in the world. Recommend as picnic place, or stop when hiking in Small Carpathians, being near to Zaruby - top mountain in Small Carpathians.

Castle from fairytaile
Apr 2019 • Couples
One of the most well presrrved castles. Optional viewing available each hour, contain walk on the tower with beautiful view on surounding countryside. Nearby the castle is big english park and old church which is worth to visit too. Really nice location for one day visit.

Gorgeous picturesque castle

You'll see this almost fairy tale castle sitting alluringly in the middle of a forest-topped hill long before you reach it - again as with most tourist attractions in Slovakia expect a bit of a hike up from the car park. The castle isn't original and was built on the site of an old sentry castle from the 14th century, which guarded the border mountain pass between Slovakia and Czechia. The Pálffy family owned it from 1777 and rebuilt it in the 19th century in the Romantic style, favoured at the time. It has a bulky tower with terrace and classic romantic features such as small turrets and towers. It is now the HQ of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, SAV Congress Centre, and it hosts a variety of scientific conferences throughout the year meaning it might not be open when you go - although even when a conference is on they let you at least look at the exterior a bit.

Lovely BUT
Jun 2018 • Couples
Lovely place very idyllic.

However it’s in the middle of no were on top of a hill there is a village with a couple of nice bars and restaurant be warned it’s a long hike along the road or a shorter hike through the woods very hard hike back to the castle there are no taxis be prepared.

The majority of the rooms can only be described as prison cells luckily we had a decent room so book room 25 if your going .

The wedding was lovely the food was fantastic.

There are no staff no reception just gateman man there is a bar but never open.

Lovely couple of days you can forget the modern 20th century here you may find yourself the only people in the castle.

Be prepared.

Defiantly a place for a wedding

Quite nice

Nice castle, though there are many other castles in Slovakia nicer and bigger. There is almost no original mobiliar - furnishing inside. It is used for scientific congresses or weddings. So it is used as hotel and event place. In October Spooky tours are held here - fun for kids.

Nice, romantic and very photogenic castle with park. Great place for visit with kids to do picnic or to go by bike. This place is also good starting point to many hiking tracks (Zaruby biggest peak of Small Karpats) or you can walk to Cave Driny. I didn't visit inside of castle but definitely view from tower must be beautiful.

Modern castle
Jun 2017 • Family
This place was almost 200 years in ruins. But the reconstruction by Palffy family from early 20 century brought a new life. Now, castle is a congress centre with very specific atmosphere.
