We joined a tour in the morning and initially we were taken through various rooms in the visitors centre to familiarise ourselves with planets etc and the telescope itself, followed by a video. Then on to the area where there are a lot of telescopes...More

Do the long tour, as all will be explained to you. Otherwise you don't really get the best information in the Museum.

If you can combine being outdoor and great views with some great education I am sold! And that is what SALT is about! Highly recommended when in the area.

Day Tour - interesting and given by a person who knows what they are talking about! The SALT Telescope is huge. Good views from the top.

A visit to Sutherland is incomplete without doing a tour of this facility. Staff are friendly, knowlegable and patient. The price of the tour is reasonable and goes to burssry funds for astronomy
