Fantastic place which is just beside the main road towards Gudauri. Nice view and beautiful carvings can be seen on the outer surface of the fortified castle wall. There is no admissin fee and you can visit it any time daylight.

The fortress complex is perched on a ridge facing down the river, from where you can imagine the invaders approaching. The church has some very intriguing and well-maintained stone wall carvings outside, which seem to show a mixture of Christian, Celtic and oriental influences. A small church yet full of symbols are history. Loved the outer wall of the church. Spotted so many symbols pertaining to Georgian civilization and religion. Inside, the paintings of the wall were very meaningful and historical. Great view from the church's outer wall, if that is what you are looking for.

The place is nice especially when our tour guide explained the history for the fortress. We also got to see here a real life "Rapunzel" tower where our guide told us that during the war the children are brought here and they climbed up/down thru ropes to keep them secured.

It has one of the most amazing views in Georgia. But as soon as you will hear the history behind it, you will realize what sort of an authentic value it has. 👍👍👍

It is a beautiful place, with spectacular scenery. You can visit the church and take photos with Caucasian attire. It is in between Tbilisi and Kazbegi.

You can easily fall in love with this place. Very romantic and the scenery is so majestic and grand that you can just lose yourself in the beauty that this place can offer. We stopover in this place before heading to Gudauri.
