Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa is an important shrine and pilgrimage site honoring the Virgin Mary. There were people from all over the world and I saw some people climb up barefoot.
The statue is erected on top of a hill and the views are spectacular. The stairs spiral upwards towards the statue. I waited closer to the top and it seemed that people at the top were praying. In any case they were not coming down to make space for others and after a wait I came down.

Best view ever. Lunch was great and cheap , given the venue. The drive up was also fun. It is very much worth a visit to get an understanding of the geography of the area. The staff in the restaurant were wonderful and the funicular rail to the car park was a treat after lunch. Well worth a visit.

The scenery here is breathtaking - you are at the top of the mountain. You can come here by car or by cable car from Jounieh. The church is open only for masses and preyers, so rather hard to visit. You can climb the statue of Saint Mary. It is quite crowded here, so you may have some difficulties with reaching the top. The view is great so I definitely recommend trying. There are some cafes nearby so you can spend here some time and enjoy the scenery.

Some pretty fantastic views from here on a good day. I was quite happy at this spot looking over the city and towards the Mediterranean Sea. It was just stunning.

This is a mountain top religious site accessed by cable car or by car.
The main attraction is the striking statue of Our Lady of Lebanon. Then there is a church and the Cathedral. The latter is of a very modern style.
Inside the area is a shop where you can by candles etc. Outside are souvenir shops and restaurants.
Please note that this is a religious site and good behaviour and modest attire is expected.
For tourists, the view from the top is stunning.

I loved the drive to this place. It is high up so you get to see the surrounding area. Photos are great from here but I was a bit underwhelmed by the site.I would go again for the drive and all you see on the way.

You cannot rate this holy place, some places you will always find peace of mind and this is place high up the mountain for same. There is small church below the Statue and you are allowed to entry and pray there. All the time you will see many people are coming and leaving but always with full of peace and silence. I can say one of best place to find your inner peace. I have chosen best path to reach here which is through teleferique. you can take cable car which is safe and gives you breathtaking view of Lebanon sea shore and city, cost is 7000 LL for 1 side and 11000 LL for return. I chose 1 Side. For return I booked Uber from entry of gate so no worry. once reach by cable car, you can go for another small Train cable car which is almost 2-3 min or you can also take beautiful walk of 5 min to reach to entry of "Our Lady of Lebanon". Even Sr. Citizens can walk this 5 min easily but slowly. you will get beautiful clicks from top of Statue till where you can walk. Superb location and again I can rate this place as best tourist attraction and place for pray and for peace of mind in Lebanon.

Unfortunately we could not take the cable car as it was closed during our visit so we had to drive to the top; this was disappointing for us but the site and the views you could see once you get there were magnificent.
Do take the opportunity to climb the statue - it is not arduous and the view is enhanced; you can virtually see the whole coastline from Beirut to Tripoli!. Church is small and tranquil and worth sitting in whether you are religious or not, simply for the tranquility.

The cable car is not for the faint hearted as the ride is about 10 minutes and very steep but the view is fantastic. You can climb to the top of the statue and the views are awesome.

Hi,
I was wondering how much time we need in Harissa if we're doing a day trip from Beirut?
Thank you

Can probably do the cable car from the bottom, walk around and back down again in just over a hour, with 2 hours more than enough.
Can i go in the church with shorts? Or do i have to wear normal long pants?
World best advisor ...!
Larnaca, Cyprus3,176 contributions
Normally it's better to have long pants but if the short is not so short that's ok ... in general you have only small indication mentioning the code of wearing but in general if it is not too short no one will say anything ... no control or checking
