Matroosberg Reserve, is a Private Nature Reserve 35km outside of Ceres, well known for it's snow during winter and beautiful summer days and crystal pools during summer. Matroosberg Peak is also the highest mountain in the Boland region and because the owners of Matroosberg value Family Life and Adventure, we refer to Matroosberg as Peak of Life or Peak of Adventure. We offer a wide range of activities, have one of the top 10 4x4 trails in SA. But even though we are a big establishment, you will still receive personal attention from the family who owns it, for they really go the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible. This is one of the only self catering establishments, where you can have the services of a butler...how cool is that... Matroosberg offers Hotel service, for guests with an self-catering budget!

Cottage has nice aspect over dam & stunning sunsets. The place is a working farm & hosts adventure activities. Tried out abseiling & target shooting -... More

We stayed in one of the BZN units for a weekend and had a really great time. The rooms are quite small and basic, but really quite inexpensive. So, if you expect some luxury, good quality bedding, etc you will be disappointed. This place is great for people who love the outdoors, walking and the fresh mountain air. Even though... More

This family orientated venue has cool evenings with warm cottages filled with love and laughter of communion. Break away for a weekend to a Lake House or get that camping gear out to escape for a week to a Private Camp site. Hot water available year through in this unique location. Surely needed for the snowy winter days of 4x4... More

Accommodation in the YCMB huts is relatively cheap - but then everything in these huts is cheap! Plastic table shaped like a canoe, plastic chairs, no paint on the walls, cheap pots and pans, cheap cutlery, cheap glasses! And if you cram eight people into the huts to get value for money, you are going to be cramped like hell.... More

We checked into one of the lakeside cottages and were made welcome from the minute we arrived. Cottage was well kitted out with every possible kitchen and bedroom accessory. Even though it snowed while we were there (the highlight of the weekend), we slept very cosily and couldn't complain about the cold inside. The indoor fireplace added to the cosy... More

Only 2 hours from Cape Town, Matroosberg is an ideal mountain country getaway. Plenty of accommodation can be booked for all budgets including camping. We stay every year in July in the stone hut. Bokwagters has every convenience and just oozes ambience and with no electricity, it is the perfect getaway from all the cyber technology hype we have in... More

Just arrived back from a holiday in Zanzibar after longing for our roots back home and the nearest was Matroosberg. Booked into the Bokwagter's house, a chilly cold, the first drops of snow, a fireplace with lots of genuine karoo lamb and a coffee on the coals with a tot of amaroela.. a Drive up the mountain, a walk to... We stayed here 3 nights in the 50 shades of green cabin if you come midweek you get a discount 1800. It was so magical the scenery was breathtaking and the location something magical. We did the 4x4 route which was hair raising but well worth it. Dry wood for the braai was sold at 20 rand bag. Clean comfortable... More
