Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I don't do usually do waterfalls. But after a strong recommendation from our hotel, I am glad I was flexible. This waterfall is quite simply stunning and mesmerising.
The waterfall is the 2nd highest in Europe apparently. But I think you got a better sense of the size and perspective by standing at the bottom.
If you are at the bottom when the waterfall is in full flow (11.30am-to1.30pm) you might need a rain jacket - I just sat there and watched the water pounding the rocks for half an hour.
There is more parking at the top of the waterfall, along with a viewing platform of sorts, which gives great views back down the valley. This is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting the area.

It is amazing but it is important to know when the flow of water is open. During "normal days" the flow is poor and even if it is still a great vision, it cannot be comparable with the one when the flow is at the top. Then is a magnificent show!

If you visit the area, you definitely need to see the Cascata del Toce. Pay attention to the day and the time you pass by because it is not working all the time.

It is easy to access to by car and requires no walking for a clear view. You can park at the top and stand near the drop off point to feel the momentum. There is a path leading down along the side of the super waterfall. Alternatively, you can park your car near the bottom of the fall (the lower end of a car tunnel) and walk an easy path to approach the bottom of the water fall. It takes less than an hour for this impressive visit. Entirely free.

Wonderful day out, lovely location, and with the water flowing (check the website for times) just a wonderful sight. Lots of areas to walk and trails to keep you busy.

The fresh air...
The amazing views...
Tall and powerful waterfall !!!
There are many great hiking trails in the area
You can see the waterfall from the top
You can walk to the falls from below
From this two locations the waterfall looks amazing and unique.
You should bring warm clothing. Even in summer it is cold here.
There is a restaurant at the top of the waterfall.
There is also a souvenir shop.
I was in many places around the world, this is one of the most beautiful
A must visit

What an incredible experience, it took us almost two hours to climb up. Some in better shape could do it in one! Well worth it and have Polenta up at the "Refugio".

It's a very pleasant drive from Lago Maggiore to the waterfall. Try to avoid the motorway and take the smaller roads. We stopped off at Domodossola on the way for lunch - a very pleasant town (go up behind the main road into the smaller squares). You'll be driving up the valley with beautiful alps either side, in front and behind you. Just after Foppiano, there's a great piece of engineering in the circular tunnel through the middle of a mountain that takes you up several hundred metres above where it started - though you can always take the old road with it's 9 hairpin bends if you're feeling brave!

By the time you get up to the waterfall, you're in unmistakeably alpine territory - wooden chalets etc. There's a big car park and a few bars by the waterfall - and lots of clean air to breathe! There's a wooden promontory that enables you to go out above the falls.

Take a look inside the dinky little church from the early 17th century.

There's not a lot of water on the falls in summer as most of it goes to the hydro-electric plant.

The water that goes over the waterfall is usually diverted by Enel, an Italian electric company, so you need to check that the water is actually going over the falls on the day you go. For instance, today, June 2, the waterfall was visible but it was considered a "special event." Starting June 9 until the almost the very end of September the water will be going over the falls every day but the hours are limited (for instance at 11:30-13:30 every day but Sunday, when it runs from 10:00-16:00). The location is spectacular, surrounded by the mountains. There is a large parking lot and facilities at the top as well as a very nice chapel dedicated to the Madonna della Neve (Madonna of the Snow). You can stand on a small wooden bridge that almost goes out over a small part of the falls and there are various trails in the area, including one that goes from the waterfall down to below the falls. The best view of the falls is from below, where there is no dedicated parking but you can find some spaces on the side of the road.

We were on our way to Riale, when we realised that there was also this beautiful waterfall on our way to it.The views are stunning. It was pretty windy and snowy when we were visiting it,so managing the camera on that little bridge can be a handful, so be careful people :-) It is really beautiful, since it was all under snow you get the feeling that it comes out of nowhere! The feeling you get watching it from up top is amazing. Also you can make super photos when you come out of the tunnel prior to the waterfall-you can point it out cause there on top is a bright yellow restaurant :-)
