a lot of people have this on their Qatar to do' list and I'm not entirely sure why… It's quite a long drive out there and not a great deal to see apart from a rusty old bed from what I remember. Yes, I did see a huge ostrich, but not directly linked to film set! Although I hear that... More

Film city is located next to a spoilt oasis more or less in the middle of nowhere. It is a small group of buildings rumoured to have been used for a scene in Star Wars - I don't think so the place wasn't built when Star Wars was filmed! Apparently it is/was used for local filming. One of the caretakers... More

Not an easy place to find.... Need a 4x4, a GPS or Google maps app, the right coordinates and time on your hands! Some of the scenery is interesting, particularly the so called "Mystery Village" which looks a bit like a scene from Star Wars. Challenging drive out of there though, recommend caution. The little fort dubbed Film City is... More

Although getting out to Film City is an experience in itself, the actual "city" is very small and unremarkable. Living in Qatar, I was already familiar with the roads and general area and we still struggled to find it. Luckily, plugging the coordinates into Google Maps (on the phone) did the trick. In true local style, the buildings look very... More

25'34.11"N 50'46.65"E Is the correct GPS address. It is west of Doha, some 80km but part of it is rough terrain

It is definitely an experience to visit Film City! It is in the middle of no where, quite tricky to find! Once we are there, we are just amazed! You got to see it to believe it. A watchman stays on site to look after the building. He offered us a cup of tea on entry and chatted about the... More

Taking photos was quite nice...overall, I enjoyed being there. It was just really dull and lacking activity, I expected much more from a film city. It definitely has the potential to be much more than what it is now.

Film City is for those who seek a light adventure and a little bit of exploring. I think it is best for photograph afficionados and Doha outdoor lovers. Rough roads all the way to the Film City and should be for off road cars only. The journey from the main road takes a while so pack some liquids, food and... More
