Went for a morning tour and hired a guide who spoke very well about the history of the place. We saw four types of lemurs and interacted directly with 2 of them. They tend to come down if you have fruit and are very interested in you. 20 thousand AR for visitors to the park plus some tips for the... More

Visited here whilst staying in Fort Dauphin. The journey there was bumpy but a great way of seeing the local area. A 4x4 is probably advisable but our taxi driver did a great job. The reserve is beautiful and it is well worth staying overnight in the comfortable and reasonably priced accommodation, enjoying the delicious food provided by the friendly... More

This was not too far away from where I was staying in Fort Dauphine and I loved my visit. You can go and walk the grounds to see lemurs, have a picnic lunch to enjoy the weather and they have a few rooms if you wanted to stay there too. I think it is better to have a 4WD vehicle,... More

The reserve is in the grounds of an old experimental forestry station with a partly restored and partly modernised colonial home serving as the base and office. Lemurs roam freely and there are other attractions such as tortoises and chameleons. Just 7km from Fort Dauphin, it is really well worth a visit.

Visited here whilst staying in Fort Dauphin and would recommend a visit here! The lemurs are very tame and respond to the guide shouting "Maki Maki" (plus the odd piece of banana) The grounds of the Reserve are beautiful but I would strongly recommend a guided tour otherwise it would be difficult to know where to go/what to do. Also... More

Obviously the main attraction for this place is the lemurs. The lemurs are very friendly, and it is a fantastic experience when you feed them and have them come near you. Don;t be fooled, this is not a truly `wild` experience, but that should't be how you take this place. It is like being in a beautiful country garden, where... More

Travelled here with local guide, a friend was working locally and suggested it. It is WELL WORTH a look. No one else was there when we visited, but about 15 car loads of 4WDs turned up to have a party there. The guide wasn't impressed but it made no impact on what we were doing. The guide was amazing. His... More

The house itself is badly in need of some TLC but the bones of it show show what a classic colonial mansion this once was. The gardens are interesting, well kept and very conveniently close to the Fort Dauphin road... and if you are not going to Berenty rest assured you'll definitely see lots of lemurs. Not in quite the... More

We stopped here after a two days at Berenty. Although we would have preferred another half day at Berenty over this spot, it was pleasant. Loved the huge bamboo stands. The little boat ride was a bit lame. If you cant have the experience of seeing lemurs in other reserves this is a good place to see them.

We visited nahampoana with a very enthusiastic son who had been before and fallen in love with the sifakas. After an interesting trip on some fairly bumpy roads we arrived to wander with a guide into the main walkway up to the entrance. The gardens are great with interesting plants including edible and attractive flowers. We checked out the crocodile... More
