Great for kids

The children love coming here, especially feeding the animals and climbing in the fort. They also like the adjacent Toy Museuim.

Pumpkins dinosaurs toys medieval times rescued animals haunted house torture instruments Just me and my 8 year old son went along and didn't know what to expect Strange mix So much stuff in the toy museum almost too much didn't really grab him The medieval fort not what was expected when described as a castle but actual very evocative Pumpkin... We visited the castle when our niece and nephew were staying nearby with the in-laws and were very pleasantly surprised. The castle offers so much to do, from following clues around the various areas - the kids learn stuff but they don't know they are learning! - to petting the animals to having a bite to eat or even trying... Today was my third visit, although the first in nearly twenty years. Went with our two children, aged 9 and 6. Spent about 3 and a half hours here, including the toy museum and quick stop for lunch. Not sure if the admission is cheaper than it used to be (£10.50 for adults, £8.50 for children), as I didn't think... More

My friends and I visited here on a Wednesday during half term at the end of October. We arrived about 10 minutes before they opened but we were able to buy our tickets and wait in the shop area. I would recommend early arrival as it was practically empty and as we left about 2 hours later there was quite... More

I visited yesterday day with my daughter (17 months), Nephew (12 months), step-niece (12) & step-nephew (7) & my dad. Obviously the two toddlers were not interested in any of it other than the freely roaming animals & ducks. However, the other two children had a lovely day running around, exploring etc.. Lots of things could be improved but overall... More

Today we visited Mountfitchet Castle with two children aged 10 & 12 and grandad. We first visited the old fashioned toy museum. Slightly interesting but my two kids got bored of this very quickly. Maybe great for adults who want to reminise on the past, but I think even grandad wasn't enjoying it! We then moved onto the castle. The... More

Week set out to keep families entertained all day long. Activities to keep the kiddies going and plenty to do. Not just a castle but a toy museum too which is interesting in its own right

We have been going to this attraction for years. It is great value for money, great entertainment and the price includes a visit to the toy museum. It's great that they have animals roaming freely around the castle grounds

We took the eldest boy and his family to the castle with the grandchildren on a sunny morning in September just before the new school term. It did not open until late which was a shame on such a lovely morning especially with children who are always up early. The animals were friendly and enjoyed the bags of food we... More
