Been in New Jerusalem a year ago, and now again. It has changed beyond recognition! They nearly finished the restoration, just the flowerbeds are left to do, the domes are shining, everything is tidy and smashing beautiful.

It's russian copy of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem The main church is now being restored. It will be open in summer 2016. It's a middle level attraction. Attraction is mainly popular with the locals. Nature and architecture around is not interesting, it's located near noisy highway. Nearby the monastery there is small park, not in the... More

An hour or so drive from Moscow, this is a nice day trip. There are a couple nice options in the area for lunch as well to close things out. Monastery is very nice, but still under reconstruction. Much of the complex is close to the public, reopening in 2017. Careful going in winter since access is generally very slick.

If you are in the area - it is worth stopping by and seeing the place. Its architecture is quite impressive. You probably need 30 mins or so.

Novojerusalemskiy monastery in Russian. Located near Istra railroad/bus station, 10 minute walk distance. 40km northwest from Moscow. On Volokolomskoe expressway. Renovation was going on more than 10 years, and now, from a couple years ago, whole renew project is going on. Everywhere looks like construction site. On 2016, will be completed according to their schedule. Main temple is closed from... More

The place itself is gorgeous, very beautiful from outside and the surrounding park, but the church inside is under reconstruction so you won't see much. if you are in no hurry you can go there for 1-2 hours just to walk around the area.

We have visited New Jerusalem Monastery - the famous memorial center of Russian architecture of 16th centure in the frosty and windy morning of March. Sun was shining and any cloud was in the sky - the ideal weather for photographing. But unfortunately our hopes to see the Monastery and enrich our memory by precious impressions and get beatiful photos... More

I love this monastery. It is one of the must visit place when you are in Moscow for two or more days. The best time is late spring and summer. You get the feeling of the monastery life, second world war battles and special peace place. I have visited this place for four times and still want to go there.... More
