Toured our family and relatives in Butuan and what a place to cap or end our tour - by viewing the Butuan Sunset by the Agusan River, the third largest river in the Philippines. Caught the sunset plus a bonus of twin rainbows! Really a great experience! The best things in life are still for free....

This area has a very interesting history. I recommend the visit if for no other reason than to just watch the river as it flows to the sea after you have read flyer that is there explaining a short bit on the history. We were even shown around the site a little by several small children that enjoyed our visit.... More

Great place to view the Agusan River and view the city center from the opposite bank. Some actual remains of the original church can be partially viewed through a hole inside the trunk of the Balete (Banyan) tree. A brief description of the significance of this oldest church ruin on the island of Mindanao can be read on the site.

The banyan tree that has wrapped itself around the church bell tower is right by the river and you have the perfect view of the sunset . When we bring friends to Butuan, we cap off the afternoon here while I prepare them... More

I had trouble finding this spot so here are some directions. From the main highway. Travel 2.5 km then take the track on the left. After 500 m beer left again.

The church was built here around 1625 by Friars was burned down in 1753 by Moro pirates. The only thing that remains of this church is its bell tower tress. It was considered the most beautiful church in the region before it was destroyed. Now it is just a ruin of an old stone church but it is still a sacred... More

when you visit butuan for the first time, it is recommended to visit one of its landmark which is the banza church ruins. The government has improved its marker and nearby the marker, we can find some of the church ruins in the foot of a tree. This site has been visited by both local and foreign tourist for its...
