Birdwoods Gallery is a very special place in the heart of Hawke's Bay. Set in the countryside just 3km from Havelock North Village, Birdwoods Gallery and its small companion, the Birdwoods Sweet Shop, are a 'must see' for young and old. Two historic buildings have been relocated to this pretty rural setting and transformed to become a distinctive and enchanting visitor attraction. Enjoy our famous morning or afternoon tea or come for a delicious garden lunch with family or friends. End it off with a delicious real fruit ice-cream from our little Ice Cream Shop.

Come for the sculptures, stay for a great meal, see the shop. There is ice cream as well. Plenty of parking. The prices are quite reasonable and if you live in NZ and want an incredible piece of sculpture and an incredible price....this is the place. The pieces come from both NZ and Zimbabwe and are of a variety of... More

Make the effort to find Birdwoods. It's quirky, charming, unique and a little gem. It's so much more than a café - more an experience. Take a little time and appreciate what the owners have done. You won't be disappointed.

This is definitely worth a visit. Had a delicious lunch of freshly prepared food in a lovely setting of huge trees and old restored buildings. Then to walk around the grounds looking at the interesting and beautiful sculptures, with a trip back in time in the old lolly shop. Then finish it all off with a real fruit ice cream.... More

Lunch at Birdwoods is a real treat. The Caesar Salad is a must and the chicken and mushroom filo pie is delicious - in fact everything is delicious. Team it with a Pimms, a local wine or their homemade lemonade and you'll be pleased you did. We have been for morning tea recently too and the lemon tart is one... More

I had heard a bit about Birdwoods Cafe and Gallery but never expected what I saw and ate at lunch. The most beautiful quiet surroundings. Lunch was a simple Caesar salad but there are salads and salads and this dish was perfect sitting in the garden surrounded by sculptures and lovely mature trees. They have a splendid gift shop too.... More

It was hard to find a savoury snack that wasn't too expensive. Luckily I asked if they had cheese scones. They did though funnily enough my friend's one was a different type to mine. The shops were super expensive with lovely items and the water feature was murky water. They did have lawn hoops you can play and did not... More

Dear Marmite, Perhaps a little toast for tea next time with some duck pate? Three stars - we did disappoint, and suspect you won't be back. How sad. Sincerely, Louise Stobart - Owner More

This was my first time here, originally we thought this was only a sweets shop but realised it was much more. We stayed for lunch and the food was amazing! We sat outside to enjoy the sun and the art, great little treasure we stumbled upon.

For a relaxed wholesome lunch - go here. It's all in the visual detail and flavour here. Be sure to get a homemade lemonade. Beautiful setting with friendly happy staff. A wonderful family run business.

We went three times in the week we were in the area. Beautiful gardens and sculptures. Awesome homemade food in the cafe, dining both inside the old church and in the garden. Musician playing in garden on sunday made for lovely relaxing lunch with family. Will be regulars when we visit Hawkes bay
