Overview
More
Situated on the banks of the Yukon River, the Cultural Centre is a place where we celebrate the heritage and contemporary way of life of the Kwanlin Dun First Nation people. It is also a gathering place for people of all cultures. The vision of the Cultural Centre is to revive, preserve, and demonstrate our language, practices, values and traditional way of life for the benefit of Kwanlin Dun people. We also want to share our culture with other First Nations and people from around the world.

Had a two day conference, felt very peaceful, the longhouse is made out of wood, lightings are beautiful. Not for visitors but more of a gathering place for the community people. It is a great place for people of the KDFN to gather their community...More

Beautiful building, but much more organized for classrooms and meetings than the public education. Went there recently, and aside from a few recently made decorative objects, a few comments on First Nations, and an exhibit on trapping there wasn't much going on. Ok if you...More

Kwanlin Dun combines pride in First Nations history and art with commitment to perpetuating native culture into future generations. The arrestingly designed modern building serves not only to inform visitors, but to provide workspace for education and a meeting space for elders. Film, performance and...More

Wasn’t sure what to expect here, but found some interesting and unique indigenous art along with some history about the indigenous communities in the Yukon. We were there for about 45 minutes and that was plenty to see the displays.

A fantastic Christmas market. The variety of goods available was amazing. The number of artisans displaying their wares is surprising. It was great to be able to buy Christmas gifts that are "one-of-a-kind", compared to what you would normally buy. We traveled to Whitehorse earlier...More

This place appears to be a location to assist First Nations peoples. Directly opposite the entrance there were many people who seemed to be working on projects. It looked like a large classroom. In fact most of the building seemed to be related to education....More

This was our second visit to this center. The first time was 3 years ago when they were having a cultural event that included many artisans. This time it was quieter and we were able to see the wall displays and spend time reading about...More

The Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre hosts a great collection of local first nations art, conventions and an impressive waterfront - but its crown jewel is the library. I didn't always think so - my first experience was rather negative but over the last two years...More
