Wonderful tour! So informative and entertaining! This is situated in Quebec's first jail house and public hangings were from its balcony over the main doorway! Cells inside still bear the carved names of the inmates so long ago! Tours of the city are offered- ghost tours... 'promenade of fantomes ' or something like that! We went on one and it... More

Check out this very beautiful building! Free admission and the staff and very knowledgeable and happy to talk about the building. If you're into old books, you've come to the right place.

Not so far from the hustle and bustle of rue St-Jean lies a lovely library. A great place to relax, enjoy the quiet and read a good book.

Not only is this a great library (English print books), check out the Prison tour (admission fee) as well. This location is also known as the Morrin Centre. It's worth your time to stop for a look-see.

As others have said. A hidden gem. Interesting to get the English history. There is so much French history in Quebec. It is nice to see some English also

This is right off of Rue St. Jean (up the hill) and we took the tour of the jail. Really interesting tour and worth it. They have English tours so you will need to time it correctly.

Fabulous museum and library. Well worth taking a guided tour! The history of the goal is amazing and was explained excellently by our guide. The library is very interesting. The James Wolfe statue has an intriguing history!

This place is listed twice on TripAdvisor- also as the Morrin Centre. The library is a beautiful place, but the jail others have mentioned is seasonal and closes for the winter.

Fact & Fiction intersect at the Literary & Historical Society (also known as the Morrin Centre) in Old Quebec City. A trap door became for me a moment of double vision: BOTH an element of the real history of the first prison in Quebec City AND the portal to an imagined murder scene. Part of the intrigue of this museum... More

After giving us a brief tour of the prison, the guide let free to visit the exhibits and the adjacent apartments, including the library, which is awesome; makes you want to sit down and enjoy a good read it's so cozy and tranquil.
