I much prefer museums where I do not have to read gobs of information at each exhibit. However, the histories were interesting, and the chapel is very beautiful. You can get a 3 museum pass for this one, Civilization, and Place Royal... definitely worth seeing all three and the pass saves you some money.

I was impressed by the richness of French history throughout North America, From Acadie to the Great West to Louisiana in the South. American visitors can learn a great deal about their own history since most of North America was French at a given period up to mid 18th century.

Many travelers, including Americans and English-speaking Canadians, know little if anything about the amazing story of French-speaking North America. This museum aims to inform visitors on how large parts of North America were explored and settled by French-speaking explorers, trappers, settlers, etc. It offers a unique look at the history of the continent viewed from a French-speaking point of view.... Unique museum attached to a chapel (near cathedral) - don't need much time here but a good break from walking on bust streets.

It must have been about 88 degrees and my husband and I were really warm. He is not a museum person but I did not want to wander aimlessly around Quebec City for another day. We saw sites on Day 1 but there was a lot of shopping that my hubby found kind of dull. Onto the dull museum...I am... More

With some down time on a recent visit to Quebec, we stopped in to the museum for a quick tour and decided to go back for a guided grand tour of the chapel and seminary that was included in the museum price. Historical perspectives, insight and a look into the past was of interest. It brought the review up to... More

There are many displays describing the exploration and settlements of French in Canada and the United States, from the first French settlement in Quebec through migration to California. Be sure to see the Rediscovered Colony exhibit.

We got the three museum pass, which included this one. It was perhaps my favorite. The exhibits are heavy on multimedia, but unlike so many others, do so without the dull touch screens (why make a museum act like a website?). The history of Quebec's founding, with the recently unearthed artifacts was great. I also loved the exhibit on the... More

We saw the front door of this museum and almost didn't go in. Looked up some reviews and decided to take a chance. So glad we did! This was our favorite museum experience of both Quebec City and Montreal. And NOBODY was there! We were there before lunch, left for lunch and a concert and came back in the afternoon,... More

We loved this museum. The cost is modest. The presentation in each section of the museum is very artistic and informative. Be sure to use the headphones and listen to each speech in each section- they are usually about 1 minute each. On a different floor is a movie about the Francophones. As our ancestors were Acadians in the early... More
