I love the city walls. Walking into the gates make you feel like you are walking into another time or place. It's easy to mentally go back to a European street from here.

You can walk up on top of the fortification to look out over the city. Very steep stairs - not handicap friendly. They are still working on it but it is fabulous.

We viewed these walls of this ancient city during the nighttime and the lights and angles were spectacular !!! Just visiting Quebec is a real treat and this part of the city makes for some interesting venues . . . well worth the effort.

The only walled city in Canada, lots of historical significance in old forts and buildings. The stonework is intriguing and Parks Canada does a good job maintaining it.

The walls that surround the Old City are a big part of the reason why Quebec is such a popular tourist destination. There’s only one other walled city on the continent and it’s in Mexico, so Quebec City is the closest thing to Europe that...More

Not a lot of explanation as to why the gates were in place and their history but certainly a well come entrance to the old city of Quebec.

There is a funicular that runs from the lower town to the upper town that drops you right at the foot of the Chateau Frontenac. From there it’s maybe a 15 minute walk to the fortifications. It’s an easy walk.
