Three of the original four remain, and one may be toured. They are typical of the many towers built by the British in the 1800’s. They were much sturdier than the Block houses they replaced. The one near the river offers nice views.

This tower was one of four built. There are 3 left. We drove by on our caleche tour. The upstairs had a gun platform and the main floor could hold an army unit inside. This tower was built by the British and for defence.

We saw the Martello Tower on the Plains of Abraham when we walked to see the Joan of Arc statue. This is where the Canadian Army stored their ammunition.

After a rather disappointing visit to the Battlefields Museum which was all rather confusing the visit to the Martello Tower on the same ticket was a revelation. The concept of the towers and how it is now presented using ipads was very impressive. Some of...More

OK, so why is a stone tower that used to house a cannon cool? Because, they strap an iPad on you and when you hold it up to numbered markers throughout the tower, you see things that aren't really there! You hear from soldiers' stories,...More

Beautiful in the location of the Plaines of Abraham. This landmark will take you back in time and show you how the military strategies were used.
