The SAQ liquor stores are located throughout the Quebec Province and there are several in Montreal. A convenient location for tourists in the Old Montreal area is located at the corner of Notre-Dame and Saint-Sulpice (next to the Notre-Dame Basilica). There is a reasonable selection of wines from Canada, the USA, France and other countries.

There are many SAQ outlets in the city, but the premier location is the one on 70 Rue Ste. Catherine W near the Metro. It is the only one that they call "Signature" and for a reason. Access is by a lift to the ground (street level) floor from the other SAQ. We were looking for gifts for special people... More

The staff at the Duluth and st Denis location are RACIST and dislike anglophones. If you show up just before closing, they will physically kick you out. I was assaulted by a French girl (assuming management) staff there because she was being horrendously rude and I called her out on it. Writing a complaint to the head office and hoping... More

How does the provincially run liquor and wine business rates when measured against most wine stores that are in the private sector in western europe or the usa? Monopoly is a type of (benevolent ) autocracy: it can do pretty well what it pleases and get away with it. In this case it is designed as a cash cow for... More

Have a nice selection, check promotions as they make sense, good advice from specialists on the floor. A bit expensive. Have a section with cold alcohol when needed as some restaurants near by accept bring your own wine which is famous in Quebec. Secure, no problem.

Staying in Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)

Neighbourhood Profile
Olympic Park & Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa)
Named for the Olympic Stadium complexes built for the 1976 games, the Olympic Park and the surrounding neighbourhood of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (HoMa) make up an invigorated area dedicated to "Space for Life." Around the Olympic Village's arenas and stadiums, Rue Sherbrooke welcomes exploration of its sculpture gardens decorated in the works of Jean-Paul Riopelle and its museum culture headed by the historical Château Dufresne. Maisonneuve Park offers interactive experiences at its bio-dome, insectarium, planetarium, and botanical gardens. For a change of scene, the gentrified space along Rue Ontario Est is packed with the city's newest, edgiest cafes, where an imaginative, youthful crowd sips foamy cappuccinos. A visit here is incomplete without stepping into the vast halls of the Maisonneuve Market, with flower stalls, wine depots, and local produce.
