A really great way to see Montreal, and some really scenic spots. Tour guide was excellent (and shared lots of interesting anecdotes that helped give you a sense of the city's history), and it's a really lovely spot to paddle.

We hired an electric powered boat for 2 hours & cruised up & down the Lachine Canal. A great way to see another aspect of the city & enjoy the views. Customer service was good, the guy at the booking desk was friendly & the other staff member went over the safety aspects of the board very well. My only... More

We thought we would do a nice 2-hour trip on the canal with the kids and enjoy a perfect summer day. But we got an uncontrollable boat, an endless line of customers in front of us complaining and asking reimbursement, and an overall painful experience that we ended way before the 2 hours deadline. Maybe the kayaks are Ok, but... More

I'm sorry your experience was a negative one. I can tell you without question that we do care and spend hours weekly fixing boats that are damaged by customers. Refunds are rare and our high rating and selection on numerous lists as one of the "Top 10 Things to Do in Montreal" suggest that perhaps your experience was unique. Often... More

Had a great time on the water except the guy at the front desk was one of the rudest employees I have come across in a while. He was rude to us and even more so to the clients ahead of us, barely answering their questions and shouting at them. He sits at the front desk, making zero eye contact,... More

Hi Sam, thanks for your review. It's not always easy to ensure that everyone is in a good mood every day and things can get quite stressful on a busy weekend day. We hope to expand next year and have the ability to service people faster and more efficiently next season. Your feedback is appreciated. More

Nice little outing to paddle up and down the canal... .5 km one way and 2.5 km the other way. Water is very flat, some motorized traffic - takes about 30 minutes to paddle a km at a leisurely pace. There is not tons to see but it is nice and there's a market 5 mins walk away. No washrooms... More

We did a morning tour and not only did we see a different side of Montreal we asked and got local suggestions for after tour places to eat, and sites to see, from our guide. Easy paddling, helpful guiding, nice lunch spot. We were given interesting commentary about the history of the canal and buildings along the way. A very... More

I would of gave this place 4 stars if it wasn't for the very bad customer service I experienced today. My boyfriend and I decided to go on a little adventure and rent a kayak for 1 hour. When we got onto the kayak, I asked the man what I'm suppose to do if I don't have a watch on... More

Unfortunately this is not exactly what happened. These clients where an hour late and refused categorically to pay the extra hour that is outlined in the registration document that they signed. Unfortunately there will always be some customers that don't respect the time of their rental period and blame everyone else for them being late. It was the first time... More

They rent single and tandem kayaks, 2- and 4-person pedal boats, canoes, and electric boats. It was a sunny weekend, so there was a one-hour wait to get a kayak. They supply life jackets and off you go, up and down the canal. They also offer classes. Very enjoyable.

Staying in Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Sud-Ouest (Southwest District)
Once the core of industrialised Montreal, the factories and historic buildings of Le Sud-Ouest have been renovated into homes, museums, and small businesses. The rejuvenated landscape has put its Saint-Henri district in vogue, with cutting-edge galleries and an ever-expanding network of restaurants. Foodies can especially delight in the mom-and-pop shops in Little Burgundy, or at the Atwater Market, where outdoor stalls sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat, street vendors have menus of hot fish and wine, and the indoor market offers chocolate, breads, and coffee beans. Dominated by the gentle waters of the Lachine Canal, Le Sud-Ouest is still very much an outdoor town, with a number of pedestrian-only bridges traversing the waters, bike paths along the canal with views of the Leisure Boats, and massive green spaces like Angrignon Park to stop for a picnic, or to play a sport.
