Mile-End is a quaint yet contemporary quarter teaming with multiculturalism and filled with cafés, bars, restaurants, specialty grocery shops, boutiques, galleries, hot yoga spots, great bakeries and Montreal-style bagels served fresh and hot. Many of its residents are eco-friendly and artistic -- in summer, it is not unusual to see guitarists strumming a tune.

Great Neighborhood!

We loved this artsy, creative neighborhood with great food, shops, and live music! I can't wait to visit in the summer when everyone is out and about!

I lived in Montreal in the Mile-End neighbourhood for 4 years in the early 2000s. Each time I go back to Montreal, I'm always making a point of visiting this multi-cultural part of town every time I visit the city. Although the streets of Mile-End offer a lot of very good small restaurants and cafés as well as a pretty... More

Adjacent to Le Plateau, this area has experienced a revival in recent years. Once home to the garment factories, and working class residences, it now features trendy cafes and restaurants. Parking is a nightmare, as most of central Montreal has limited parking spots for non-residents.

Cool place to visit, lots of vintage shops and of course great variety of places to eat. Rustiq neighborhood where every house is different with eh.. unique way ;) There are some places to make findings in a very good price. We liked a lot of some combined home decoration/casual clothing shops. You may also see some real hipsters with... More

On the edge of the city's huge, well-used central park, this is an awesome neighbourhood with tree-shades avenues and interesting architecture. There are loads of bars and restaurants here to visit and we really enjoyed our stay in the area.

We took the metro here and spent the afternoon walking around the neighborhood. It was really enjoyable. Many beautiful homes and interesting things to look at. When the weather is nice, this is a good option.

My sis and I enjoyed just walking up and down the streets looking at all the houses, shops, and cafes. Peculiarly picturesque and interesting, would return to Montreal just because of this neighborhood.

My friend took me around Mile-End and gave me her own version of the food tour that is so popular for visitors. The area is full of great little shops stop by Kem Coba for some delicious ice cream or Drawn and Quarterly for some amazing books. As you wander alone you will run into several food tours and can... Vera did a great job explaining the types of foods we had. She also shared her knowledge of the area. Lots of great food and treats. Great way to see things you would have missed in Montreal

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
