There are so few modern Formula 1 tracks that the average fan could ever get to experience as close Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. As it's on the island that hosted Montreal's Expo 67 world's fair - it remains an easy-access place to visit via public transport or taxi. Turn 2, Wall of Champions, and the ability to see it all on... More

Visited in June 2016 for F1 Grand Prix week. There are so many trees and the track is located on an island in the middle of the St Laurence River. Beautiful but not conducive to general admission spectators. I never was able to see the pit area or the start/finish line (you have to have the right type of ticket).... More

As an f1 fan I was thrilled to have the chance to visit the circuit and to ride round. To stand on the pole position was unbelievable.

Our flight was cancelled on our last day and we had to stay an extra day. Thank goodness for that!!!! Osheaga festival had just ended and we wanted to see the island without all the people. We ran into a bike rental shop and got 2 electric bikes. We cruised around the track and stopped at the lake for a... More

This was the highlight for my sister. She loves F1 and to be able to cycle the circuit was heaven for her. It is set by the river and surrounded by a large park, so there is plenty do in the area besides the circuit. Hire the city bike for a few dollars and cycle the track. It is great... More

I grew up watching Formula One on TV and it was an amazing experience to visit the actual circuit where the Montreal Grand Prix happens. One can see the boxes, the mechanics area and the area where the race starts and ends. Very emotional if you are into that sport.

I must admit to having been a fan of Formula One in the past, though I haven't followed it much these last 10 years. Because of this, part of me was interested in walking a circuit all the greats since the late seventies have raced on; however, having spent a postcard-like September morning completing a lap, I'd advocate it to... The F1 track is very close to the city centre, and we had an enjoyable 60/90 minutes walking the track. A great chance to literally walk, run, cycle, or drive a working F1 circuit - and get a photo with the (in)famous Wall of Champions! Probably best avoided by non F1 fans however.

Staying in Parc Jean-Drapeau

Neighbourhood Profile
Parc Jean-Drapeau
The islands of Saint-Helene and Notre-Dame together make up the anchored fabric of Parc Jean-Drapeau. The mostly man-made grounds were built to be the site of the 1967 World's Fair, and the chiefly car-free space still retains its inherited carnival character. A wonderland of foliage and flora awaits at the Jardins des Floralies, with its expanse of pond-marked wetlands making it perfect for hiking, nature walks, and exploration. Old exhibitions still straddle the newest entertainment complexes, including the high-flying roller coasters of La Ronde Amusement Park and the brightly-lit Casino de Montréal. From the springtime on, families crowd the sandy beaches with candy-striped umbrellas, and rowers take to the Olympic Basin, where the spherical American Pavilion and the high brick Tour de Lévis provide an atypical backdrop. A short metro trip carries visitors and locals to this vacationing spot, providing leisure and activity outside of the inner city.
