Amazing facility

We were not able to tour this church but it was an impressive looking structure from our hotel window at the Marriott Chateau. Walked around it several times on the street.

We saw this church as we were walking down the street and it was really cool to see. Definitely caught our attention. I am still amazed at the way they built these places so long ago. Worth seeing and taking a few pics.

This is an absolutely exquisite Cathedral. Probably the most beautiful and authentic in North America in my opinion. Well worth alone to make the trip to this impressive city.

What a wonderful surprise to find this beautiful basilica within walking distance of the hotel. The architecture and little shrines within are inspiring. The atmosphere is prayerful. The eucharist was exposed in a side chapel while we were there. I'm not sure is there is perpetual adoration or not. There is a small gift shop. If you are in Montreal... More

This is a beautiful and large cathedral in the heart of the city. It is free of charge and provides a quiet place in time of need.

I went here late in the afternoon mid week and was pleasantly surprised at how few people were in the church given its size and situation. An impressive church inside and out, with a beautiful interior that hasn't been over gilded with some stunning crypts.I would allow half an hour here.

Sunday Mass was a wonderful experience. It was concelebrated in French and the background singing and classical music were very moving.

I attended mass at the cathedral and took the chance to admire the beauty of its interior. Lovely colors and a peaceful place to have a chat with God.

The architecture and painitng are stunning. I looked at every one of the historic panels depicting the history of the founding and settlement of Montreal. A must-see.

A place to see and visit, although there are other churches more beautiful. It is located in a nice area with restaurants and stores nearby

Staying in Centre-Ville (Downtown)

Neighbourhood Profile
Centre-Ville (Downtown)
Montreal's towering skyline is concentrated in the Downtown area, its nexus of commerce and commercialism. A suffusion of luxury hotels, flagship stores, high-end restaurants, and corporate headquarters characterize the neighborhood, which by nightfall transforms from a business district into a youth-culture hotspot, with hip bars, clubs, and restaurants heavily peopled by students and young professionals. The once-seat of millionaire's 'Golden Square Mile', an incongruity of stately mansions and dapper brownstones sit between glass skyscrapers, creating a visually lush urban landscape. Beneath the sidewalks lay the Underground City, the world's largest below-ground mall, a labyrinth of over 1,500 shops and eateries that echo the profusion of cafes, gallerias, cinemas, and fashion outlets above. From the scholarly array at McGill University to the carousing crowds of Rue Crescent, visit Downtown to shop by day for what you'll wear there by night.
