A weekend afternoon wandering Queen St West was a delightful change from shopping malls or even small town downtowns. The eclectic mix of design shops, second-hand stores, fabric stores, and bistros contained something to interest everyone in our party.

Lots of interesting shops, bars and food. Check out rooftop patios. Visit the Drake Hotel. Great shopping.

Everyone is welcome here; walk along and enjoy the scene and pick up some great snacks along the way, and end up with taking it easy for a while in Trinity Bellwoods Park.

Queen west is what I wish all streets in Toronto were like. With mostly boutique restaurants and shops (read - not a lot of chains), Queen west has amazing variety. It would take you ages to eat at every restaurant in the area and you would seldom be disappointed. The good restaurants stick around and the not so good last... More

Per my (other) Queen Street review, the West block going up to Peter Pan has a concentration of shops that works together.

We ventured into this area hoping to find some fun shopping, only to be seriously disappointed. The shops are mostly "flea market" quality and feature "greasy" merchandise. You can do better, especially in Toronto.

We have been vacationing here for four years. Can't think of a better place. West queen west has everything one could want. And it's friendly, cheap and safe.

This long street had some graffiti that for me is an instant turn-off. However it also had many restaurants, some quite reasonably priced, and many fashion stores. The most interesting section was near 'the longest street in the world', Yonge Street. It was easy to travel on the streetcars (trams) that operate at a good frequency, but which are subject... This area has some of the best dining spots in Toronto. It is a very diverse locale and easy to get to and get around. It is best seen on foot with time to stop and browse in shops along the way

Staying in Queen Street and West Queen West

Neighbourhood Profile
Queen Street and West Queen West
Known as the Art & Design District, West Queen West is one of the most energetic and dynamic of Toronto's neighborhoods. Along with its great modernist museums, clubs, and restaurants, it's home to some of the funkiest specialty shops, ranging from clothing to stationary to collectables, and caters to niche and vintage shoppers of all kinds. That makes it a mecca for creatives, including hobbyists designers, writers, and painters. With ink on their hands and fabric pelts in their bags, visitors to Queen Street traverse the avant-garde blend of historic architecture and ultra-contemporary fare. Home to some of Toronto's chicest hotels and most modish java fixes, busy with street cars, and always suffused with live music drifting onto packed patios at bars and clubs by nightfall, the vibrancy of West Queen West is undeniable.
