The corner of Yonge-Dundas Square is akin to "Times Square" as it relates to the Big Apple. Here you find the heartbeat of "downtown" Toronto and the blocks-mall with a subway station that feeds the consumption. If you are in Toronto, and, even if malls and shopping aren't your deal, its worth the visit to see it all as it... More

My wife and I took a walk to Dundas Square which wasn't very far from our hotel. We felt very secure and safe walking after dark here as did a few others. Although we've never visited New York it reminds me of pics of seen of Times Square. Plenty of choices to eat and lots of shopping in the area.

Agree with CandyCritic. Yonge-Dundas Square is a relatively small, bland expanse of concrete with no real distinctive or original design features. During late spring, summer, and early fall, exciting live events such as concerts, festivals, and parades take over city streets and squares all over town, not just at this unremarkable place. Toronto's downtown core in general is not an... More

Last weekend I went to Rib Fest with a friend and had a marvellous time. Dundas Square is truly a place where the people of Toronto can come together and celebrate. I look forward to attending more activities here throughout the Summer

Dundas Square is a fun place to see. It is a corner right downtown across the Eaton Centre. There are often bands playing for free and entertainment happening. Great restaurants and coffee shops all around and lot of shopping everywhere.Great attraction with wonderful energy.

Yonge-Dundas Square is a hub where you will find the subway stop for the Eaton Centre, stop for the hop on hop off buses, movie theatres, and some restaurants. There are buskers and sometimes street people. It's a central place to go. Because it it crowded, I recommend taking care of your wallet, camera, and phone.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
