Exceptionally lovely voice of Soprano Dorothee Mields performing Bach and Zelenka with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra at Trinity St. Pauls directed by the incomparable Ivars Taurens. Gorgeous music for a chilly Sunday afternoon. If you haven't seen Tafelmusik you must go if you like Baroque music.

We traveled all the way from Portland, Maine to attend "Baroque Misbehaving" and loved being at this concert. The world premier of "Snow White" by Michael Oesterl was most enjoyable. The musicians are topnotch. Oh, to be closer to Toronto!

We took in the Baroque Behaving Badly concert on Thursday April 23 and had the world premier of one of the selections. The playing of all the selections was superb and the musicians really put their effort in. We enjoyed the concert thoroughly and wish we could attend more often.

Tafelmusik performed its four Beethoven concerts in Koerner Hall. The combination is truly delightful. The acoustics of the hall are excellent, and an augmented Tafelmusik Orchestra, led on this occasion by Kent Nagano, took full advantage of them. The programme was all Beethoven, his C major Mass before the intermission, and his Fifth Symphony after. Both works got marvellous performances... More

For thiose who enjoy the music of the Barque period, Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, Telemann, and many more, Tafelmusik will provide a fabulous treat at a reasonable price. They perform about one week a month during the winter and spring at Trinity St Paul's. This old church has been extensively renovated and the acoustics and comfort much improved over the last... Tafelmusik is known to be one of the best baroque orchestras in the world, and it has been at or close to the top of the musical heap in Toronto for years. Until this year, however, the facility it used, Trinity-St. Paul's Church on Bloor Street near Spadina, did the orchestra and its listeners few favours. The acoustics were less... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
