Our favorite way to get to know a new city is through its food. We booked the St. Lawrence Market Tour on our second day in Toronto. Ian was quirky and knowledgable, with a deadpan sense of humour which really entertained us and taught us a great deal about the food industry and scene from a local restaurant and foodie... More

we liked the tour very much, our guide was really nice and knew a lot of interesting Stories about the quarter and the Food we could try. Beginning with a delicious apple pie we then tried food from different countries and each was freshly made and tasted delicious. Even our Kids found it fascinating.

Took a 13 year old foodie visiting from Calgary in August. He had a great time learning about the history of Kensington Market and Chinatown. Good food stops. Loved the varied selections. We got our money's worth and more!

My wife and I thought a food tour was a great idea for an anniversary event. Kevin was amazing and knowledgable, the food was great, the history on the part of the city we were in was a nice touch too. I strongly recommend.

We did a great tour of the St. Lawrence market and surrounding area with Ian, our tour guide. He did a great job giving us a lot of interesting facts about the market area and supplied a nice mix of food from a variety of vendors inside the market. Highly recommend it.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
