Brock's Monument National Historic Site towers over picturesque Queenston...

Brock's Monument National Historic Site towers over picturesque Queenston Heights, Ontario. The monument measures 56 metres (185 feet) in height and is the largest monument of its kind in Canada. Situated on the site of the Battle of Queenston Heights where British and American soldiers struggled for the destiny of two nations, Brock's Monument is the final resting place of Major General Sir Isaac Brock and his Aide-de-Camp Lieutenant Colonel John Macdonell.

We stopped in on a whim and was surprised we could even climb to the top of the monument. What a view, but not for the faint of heart and any one not liking close quarters. Very very narrow stairs.....but what an adventure!!!!!! loved it. We are not super fit but after many rests we made it to the top!!!

The park is nice offering trails, historical signage of the battle that occurred here, a playground and restaurant. the monument is a nice stop to see, but has limited seasonal hours to climb. I have been 4 times and it was never open. views from below are still nice.

This is perfect for history lovers and for those seeking a good view. The look out is spectacular but I would do it in the summer for best photos. Nice place to stroll or have lunch. I would definitely bring a camera and visit again.

This is a lovely stop and a place steeped in history. The gardens, views and signage explaining the importance of the site is excellent. We really enjoyed our visit and I am sure in the summer months when the Cafe is open and the trees and gardens are in bloom it is stunning....that said we enjoyed visiting on a cold... More

So many pass this's spot either going to Niagara Falls or Niagara on the lake. This is a must see. Stop, get out of the car and take this historic site in. You will say to yourself "why haven't we stopped before".

This pile of dirt with foliage on it, seems so unimportant - but it was part of where the country of Canada was made. General Brock died on this hill (sic) and a grateful populace, NOT an adoring government, raised the funds and built the homage to a great man. One of the gifts Brock gave us was the template... Stopped in February and enjoyed a wonderful walk around the grounds and monument. Recommend to all interested in learning more about our history and the battles that occurred in the area during the war of 1812. Very pleased to see the new monuments to acknowledge the support provided by the Native American Tribes during the war.
