The Museum engages visitors with the wonder of flight through its spectacular collection, educational programming, activities, and special events. The Museum focuses on aviation in Canada, but within an international context, from its beginnings in 1909 to the present day. As Canada’s contribution to aviation expanded to include aerospace technology, the Museum’s collection and mandate grew to include space flight. The Collection itself consists of more than 130 aircraft and artifacts (propellers, engines) from both civil and military service. It gives particular, but not exclusive, reference to Canadian achievements. The most extensive aviation collection in Canada, it is also considered one of the finest in the world.Care and development of this collection remains one of the Museum’s main purposes. The Museum practises conservation and restoration techniques to keep the collection in a condition equal to the highest standards.

Our family (with girls aged 7 & 11) really enjoyed our time at the museum. There are several interactive exhibits for the young ones, and plenty of things for the older ones to do. The museum has a really impressive collection of older and more modern airplanes to look at. I especially enjoyed sliding into the cockpit of a retired... More

Looks a bit small from the outside, but it is quite a good sized building once you enter. They were having a Star Trek academy event when I went that I passed on. Breezed through the museum in less than two hours, but could have spent a couple more there easily. Great assortment of planes from the beginning of flight... More

I am a bit of a nerd for old planes. The museum space was awesome, with some planes from WWI that are the last of their kind in existence. I also very much liked the expanded cultural view that included clothes, cars, motorcycles and more for the relevant eras. The visiting Star Trek exhibit is well-done and more interactive than... We just moved here, and our friends from Montreal came for a visit, and wanted to see the museum. We haven't been here before, but we'll probably return again soon! We visited the museum one day, and returned for the Star Trek Academy the next day. What a good time we had! The planes were great. I specially like the... More

Me and my friends are history buffs, we literally spent 4 hours in there! They had so much educational content that it was absurd! We spent a long time at the sims, great value! A must visit for Ottawa!

A beautiful aircraft museum full of interesting aircraft. Museum staff knowledgeable about the histories, operational characteristics, and uses of the many different types of aircraft from antique to modern. Some special WW2 aircraft along with great stories about them. Includes a German WW2 rocket aircraft that tended to self-blow up owing to highly volatile fuel, Funny if you weren't the... More

I brought my grandfather here on one of his visits to Ottawa and it was the best experience ever. He was an engineer in the RAF for years and was able to tell me the little known facts about the planes and the guides there were a great compliment. Even without this the museum was very interactive which you don't... More

The history of Canadian aviation, including space travel, is beautifully preserved, with several interactive stations. The temporary Star Trek exhibit in the hanger next door is well worth the time for any visiting Trekkers!

My wife and I visited this museum during our ten day Montreal-Ottawa-Toronto-NY state-Cape Cod-Montreal (for Canadian F1 grand prix) road trip in June 2016. The museum is easy to find, and you pay for parking outside (we used a credit card). The building is frankly not as big as I had expected (though it is pretty big), and my first... More
