A student area

This area is mostly old run down buildings that have been converted into student accommodation. Interspersed with some shops, pubs and B&B's. Quiet, but not much to see.

One of the higher crime areas of Ottawa. Student housing galore and car breakins galore. Make sure to alarm your car and try not to street park often if you can get away with it. Renting is usually cheap and it is one of the few places in Ottawa you can dial 311 and have the police come and charge... More

Sandy hill is a very cozy area, full of students and family, where you can enjoy some parks, the university and the side of the canal. Beautiful ballade to do; very agreeable place in downtown!

This was the busiest place we'd been add day! Lots of students as we were visiting the campus for a tour. Although, I found the area dirty and run down; not a place I'd want my child living.

I grew up in this wonderful neighborhood. Beautiful parks, good schools, lovely old houses, great neighborhood feel. A mixture of different nationalities with embassies around. Also near Ottawa University so many graduates stay and make their home around this area (at least they did when I was growing up). Old heritage buildings, and new modern houses. Walking distance to downtown... More

Sandyhill is one of Ottawa's oldest most culturally diverse neighborhoods. A leisurely jaunt will show many a historical homes with plaques affront to explain their grandeur. Moreover many quaint establishments, b&b's, inns, and restaurants. Points of interest are Laurier Ave. East with Coffee shops, thrift boutiques, salons, pubs, gift shops, fast food, and the end cap of the renowned Strathcona... More

Taking a stroll in Sandy Hill is sometimes a beautiful experience but sometimes you get the crazies.. There are a couple homeless shelters in the area and therfore you can feel uncomfortable at times especially if you are a female, but for the most part the large mansions and houses that have been a part of Ottawa since forever are...
