I take the ferry on a fairly regular basis, both to Alderney Landing and to Woodside. I am a senior so the fare for me is a toonie, the regular adult fare is $2.75. It is a great way to see both skylines, Halifax and Dartmouth, especially if you ride on top. There is always shipping and pleasure boats on the move. You get a nice view of HMCS Dockyard and any RCN ships in port. It only takes about 10 minutes for the crossing, so if you get a transfer when you pay, you can explore for about an hour, then use the transfer to ride back, so you are only paying one way. If you don't want to take the ferry, the transfer works on the buses also. In the summer it is a nice way to decide if you want to see more.

We came here to check out the ferry in the winter time. It was chilly but it was a fun little zip over to the harbour. You can sit upstairs in the outdoors or inside below. You have to have exact change to get a ticket and it is a bit dated, as it is public transport after all.

We enjoyed the hop over to Dartmouth,as there was a mini carnival going on that sunday.Although Dartmouth not as picturesque, but more local and authentic and definitely not a tourist trap which I liked.

Great way to get around when crossing the harbour. There is so much to see on each side of the harbour that this is by far the best and fastest way to go from one side to the next. Polite and helpful staff.

Fun and cheap way to view the harbor area from the water. If you take it during the day, there are opportunities for food and shops.
