Fisherman's Cove is a quaint 200 year old fishing village. It offers visitors a peek into the past while providing a variety of modern day activities for the whole family. It has the sounds of the ocean, seagulls, and sand pipers. Stroll the boardwalk and relax in the sand at MacCormack's Beach. Catch a glimpse of the osprey and herons as they enjoy fishing off the beach. Watch fishing boats come home with their catch and sail boats drift by as they enter the Halifax Harbour through the eastern passage.

We expected a small fishing village and found a row of tourist shops along a stretch of road. The view of the McNab island (accessible by a ferry at Fisherman's Cove) was the only scenic part

Picturesque little fishing village with stores, restaurants and ice cream parlors. You can also have an enjoyable stroll along a wooden walkway surrounded by vegetation. At one point you reach a small sand beach where the kids can play and even take a dip (if...More

Disappointed, reading about it it said 200y old restored fishing village, and thats what I expected. We parked at the parking lot but we could have parked anywhere because literally you can park anywhere. What you see is in order: boardwalk/cars/colourful shops/cars/wharfs (for which I...More

We saw a picture of the village and wanted to see it, it was hard to find and when we did it was lackluster. A bunch of brightly coloured shops and some nice restaurants. There is a walking path to an island but we didn't...More

Boondocks Restaurant anchors one end of the cove. Several multi-colored buildings line the shore selling a variety of items. Nice sandy area during low tide times.

We used the GPS on the vehicle. If you have a smart phone you can also use Google maps to navigate for you. Otherwise the route seemed quite complex.

It is a 25 minute car ride from downtown Halifax (cruise docks). If you take the ferry from Halifax to Dartmouth and the #60 bus it will let you off about a 1/2 mile from the area, otherwise you really need a taxi... More
