Located in downtown Halifax this is a small but mighty brewery tour. You move through a couple of areas, and get tales of with the history of Alexander Keith and his brewery. Best part of the tour is the tasting room where the maritime comes alive. The barkeeps do some great maritime songs while you enjoy a pint or two.

I did the tour years ago. It was my first brewery tour. Since then, I’ve done brewery tours all over North America. The problem is, this tour is so good that it sets an impossible standard. Even if you’re not a dedicated beer drinker, the tour is fun and interesting. The history of AK is so uniquely Nova Scotia its a great way for a tourist to experience our history and culture. AK is one of the major breweries in Nova Scotia, and Canada for that matter, but if you’re a craft beer snob, you’ll still enjoy yourself here.

This tour was great and interactive. It went beyond the production of beer, but took you back in time to allow you to understand the history. At first the cover charge felt like it was overpriced, but after taking the tour, it was well worth it.

Not my first tour here, but just as great as always! Staff are top notch in terms of knowledge, friendliness and talent. Thank you, Ian, for the history and David, Edie, Stephanie, and Wendy for the fabulous musical entertainment!! And the plentiful beer samples along the tour were generous and delicious, too!!

I'll be honest; I was a bit disappointed with this. I had heard that the drinking section in the bar at the end was the highlight with staff getting everyone involved, singing, dancing but it didn't really happen. There was some music and singing but they seemed more interested in talking to each other and getting us out on time. It was as interesting as brewery tours are but it's obviously smaller and the local history was the highlight. I wouldn't likely go back again and I found the tickets kind of expensive for how quickly the whole thing took.
