Originally constructed of wood, it was replaced by a stone structure beginning in 1820.The facade and 189 foot spire are built entirely of granite. The interior has impressive columns, a vaulted ceiling, and numerous wonderful stained glass windows.

This is a historic site but also a place of worship open to the public. We were able to attend Mass on Saturday evening. The music was way over done to our liking. Good sound system and helpful ushers.

This is worth a stop. Lovely inside and beautiful stained glass windows. It is uphill walking but easier on the legs going back down to the harbor.

I would recommend that you stop in just to have a look. Very nice stained glass (front is being repaired though). Impressive building.
