Attending Shakespeare by the Sea is my favourite activity in Halifax, by far. Each summer, the company performs two Shakespeare plays - generally one comedy and one tragedy/history - and one kids' play in Point Pleasant Park. (They also do an indoor show or two during the winter months.) Not being a kid person, I've never attended any of the... More

A perfect evening in the park as long as the weather is good. Lots of laughs and always a great production. If your visiting or a local and you have the time you can't go wrong with these plays.

My daughter and I saw Shakespeare by the Sea version of Sleeping Beauty this evening and really enjoyed it. The cast is full of very talented and entertaining actors! This is a very original and creative version of Sleeping Beauty. The unfortunate thing was their generator broke down about 15 minutes into the second half of the play. They had... More

Saw a wonderful production of a mid summer nights dream. The cast was hilarious and had my 10 year old daughter rolling in the aisles. It gets a little chilly after the sun goes down so be sure to bring a blanket and a flashlight as its a fairly long walk to the parking lot. Highly recommend. Really fun and... More

Loved Shakespeare by the Sea's production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. The cast is incredibly talented & work very well together. This was my first experience with SBTS & it certainly will not be my last, cannot wait to go again! The recommended donation is $20, I suggest booking the tickets online ahead of time for $25, this reserves you... More

I really didn't know what to expect when I booked a ticket for "Sleeping Beauty", but I was very impressed! The production was an original telling of a well-known fairy tale, with lots of high energy songs. The show was well-cast and everyone did a great job committing to their characters. As someone who holds a BFA in theatre, I... More

We saw Midsummernights dream which was presented very cleverly and very professionally .It was wonderfully funny and the actors are all extremely talented . Take your own picnic dinner and preferably your own chairs so that you can use them to sit on while you are eating before the seating area for the show is opened up . Great value... More

The play was good, but some plot points were confusing...was it tongue-in-cheek when they referenced the movie Titanic in a scene supposedly taking place in the 80s? Overall, I just felt like I wanted the same kind of wonderful experience I had with Alice in Wonderland, but I didn't get it. Average...which for Shakespeare by the Sea is still worthwhile.... More
