Before departing Halifax on an early afternoon in late October, we decided to stroll through this jewel of a park to take full advantage of the warm temperature and brilliant sunshine. We set off from the entrance at the end of Young Street, where there was plenty of available on-street parking. Being a Thursday, there wasn't a lot of competition for space on the wide paths which bisect this expansive wooded oasis at the far end of downtown Halifax. There are two parking lots, one upper park and one lower park. There is a midway entry but no parking. Upper lot fills up before the much larger lower lot. Beautiful park with free parking! You could spend an afternoon here sitting on the beach or walking the many trails here. There are always a lot of puppies at the park which makes it really enjoyable.

Beautiful historic urban oasis. We walked most of the edge and cut through past the martello tower. Walkers, runners , and doggos throughout. We met a roving gang of no-goodniks (see picture). Come for a little downtime and get away from the city noise. A great de-stresser. Love this place. …
