Peggy’s Cove & Halifax

Why not combine our two most popular tours into one? See the sights of the historic port city of Halifax and then take in the famous breathtaking sights of Peggy's Cove.

Our tour would commence from Pier 21 with its Historic block as the "Ellis Island" of Canada, where more than one million immigrants came through and more than 500,000 left from during WWII.

From there we will visit St. Paul's Church, the oldest Anglican church in Canada. As well, St. Paul's Church was among some of the buildings that withstood the Great Halifax Explosion of 1917. We will drive on to Fort Needham Hill where a memorial carillon was built for the victims of that explosion. Then we'll be on to Canada's most famous lighthouse.

Peggy's Cove is one of the most unique, captivating and exhilarating eye-openers in Nova Scotia. The quaint seaside hamlets of Shad Bay, Big Lake, East Dover and West Dover, to mention but a few, are also breathtaking.

Finally made my way into Tidehouse brewery yesterday. The options on tap were many with several IPA's on the board (my favorite). I had the Rufter IPA and really enjoyed it - one of the better IPAs I have had in the city. Certainly worth a vist

My favorite brewery and taproom in Halifax. I visit Halifax for a 2 or 3 trips (beer-cations) each summer usually timed around the Nova Scotia Craft Beer fest in May and the Seaport Beer festival in August and while here, I visit all of the craft breweries in Halifax. And with that, Tidehouse is the best of all. A cozy spot with limited capacity only adding to the experience. As you do the Tidehouse shuffle, sliding down a bar stool or two to make room for new arrivals, you're sure to spark up conversation with the other patrons and Peter, one of the owners & brewers who also serves as host and taproom master. The beer is always excellent. I have not had one yet to disappoint. The beers names have clever pop culture names often referencing bands, songs, & movies. ("Jeff Goldblum is Watching You" is a favorite). Halifax has an excellent craft beer scene happening with Tidehouse at the front of it. Highly recommended.

Such a cute little bar. Only holds 12. It is tucked away under a building and down a hall. Not hard to find but in an unexpected location. Great tasting beer! Love the fun names and the quirky story behind the brewery. A great way to kick off a trip to Halifax.

Tidehouse is a small space with BIG personality. They describe themselves as small batch brewing with big flavour in the heart of downtown Halifax. This craft brewery has a neighborhood feel to it. You are welcomed in the door as soon as you get there. Always a welcome and eclectic choice of music at a volume that you can easily have a conversation. Beer choices are excellent and include some interesting hop choices in their IPA's Saison's including Azacca, Galaxy, Enigma, hibiscus. They usually have a non-alcoholic drink on for those not interested in a beer or who are the DD.

If you can find this place, don't be dissuaded by the bleak hallway that leads there. Make your way to this tiny brewpub where a friendly barkeep will pour you some of the most daring choices in brewing I've had in a while. There's something for everyone on their rotating taps! Also you get pretzels with your beer! Pay this place a visit!
