We drove the Cabot trail and decided to go off the beaten trail to Meat Cove. We saw a sign that there was also a “Chowder Hut” located at Meat Cove which we figured would be a nice spot for lunch. The drive was spectacular...More

Meat Cove is the northernmost community of Cape Breton (and N.S.) and the Mountain Trail makes it worth going up there. We were alone on the hike. The first half is steep and through a beautiful (aspen? maple?) second growth forest. After you finish your...More

A little out of the way but definitely worth the drive! Had lunch at the Chowder Hut overlooking the cove, then hiked up to a spectacular overlook. Almost drove off the road on the drive out gawking at the views!

A bit of a drive over rough terrain but a must-do when in the area. The views along the coast are amazing!

The camping area was full which speaks for itself. The food at the Meat Cove Chowder Hut was excellent. You can take picture after picture but until you see this area for yourself you then would appreciate it.

Meat Cove is the last "village" on the tip of Cape Breton. There are a few houses, cabins and spaces for camping, and a cafe, which has good fish and chips. The view is spectacular as you are up on a cliff overlooking the ocean....More
