A walk or drive around Old Town is great for history and shopping. There are some classic restaurants to visit. We had some confusion and the opening hours of some shops, but found lots of great places to stop, shop and/or learn.

Old town has both modern housing as well as more traditional native housing. The views on to the Lake are wonderful and this part of Yellowknife has great character.

Old Town is about a 20 minute walk from downtown. There are shops, restaurants and tourist activities. This is the place to be to buy fresh fish from the Commercial Fishermen Dock. Worth the time to walk around. And if you do not feel like...More

Old Town is interesting to see. Weaver & Devore has high quality winter clothing inventories and lots of unique general merchandise. Bullock’s has good fish, poor service and is very expensive. They seem to consider the poor service as “Old Town charm”. For their prices,...More
