About
One of the most photographed attractions in New Brunswick, i.e. Shediac’s Giant Lobster, is ageing gracefully, even very gracefully, and we plan to celebrate its 25th anniversary in style this year (2015). This work of art measuring 11 metres long, 5 metres in width, 5 metres high and weighing nearly 90 tons saw the light of day thanks to an initiative launched by the Shediac Rotary Club. The Town and the Rotary Club will therefore work together to mark the quarter century of existence of this work of art sculpted by the artist Winston Bronnum. For more information on the festivities marking the 25th anniversary, please visit the Town of Shediac’s website.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We love oddball attractions like this. This was nothing special. There are a few informational plaques and a museum. Is it worth a stop? Maybe. But, maybe a quick photo from the car as you drive by enroute to the PEI bridge is enough.

Check the dictionary for the definition of kitsch. I believe there’s a photo depicting this 35-foot-long concrete and Fiberglas crustacean, to help people understand the meaning of kitsch. Why, then, do so many people [estimated quarter million per year] crowd around this unlikely roadside attraction? Because it’s there!

Created in 1989 to solidify and confirm Shediac as the Crustacean Capitol, the WLL sits atop a craggy concrete base. The “Godzilla Lobster” is at the entrance to Shediac. Literally, you can’t miss it. Indeed, it is the World’s Largest Lobster, Shediac’s self-proclaimed “Lobster Capital of the World.” Little wonder our Grand Circle Travel group of 36 stopped here when returning from a boating excursion for lunch and an education about lobster trapping.

Using a little persiflage and ingenuity, I asked tour director Lyla to pose with her fingers pinching like a lobster claw. I zoomed the camera lens to make the WLL appear to fit within her fingers—make that claw, as depicted by the accompanying photo. At lunch, I mentioned that eating lobster intestines didn’t bother me, it’s what hasn’t left the guts that causes concern☺

You have to do the HOMARUS tour here, very interesting on how fisherman's have made lobster in the area sustainable.

There isn't much around to see other than the giant lobster. Drop by if this is on your way to somewhere. Don't make a special trip to see this. Nothing special.

Very cool to stop here, lucked out that it was during the big arts festival going on too and lit the lobster up differently! Always have to stop at these

It’s a photo stop in Shediac. Not much more to see in Shediac. While we were there, the Main Street in front was under construction so awkward to access.

Large roadside attraction stops such as this are a great place to take a break & stretch ones legs for a few minutes. A Fun & silly photo op for sure.

Imagine living in a place where the #2 attraction is a big lobster. HA!
It's a fun little drop in on your way past, but Shediac also has a big rooster, which I preferred. Maybe the rooster is the #1 attraction.

We came over the bridge to see what New Brunswick has to offer and I guess it’s just this. The giant lobster was cool but that is it. There is nothing else to see in this area. Really disappointing.
