Fascinating geological phenomena, if NOT into such things probably worth skipping. Need to go at high tide

Very interesting for our group. The high tide of the Bay of Fundy causes the river flow to reverse as the water from the Bay is forced upstream - this will cause a cascade to form... read more

Great historics reversing waters, but these are not FALLS and we know it, these are reversing rapids as its titled now pretty neat to see the river one way flowing then 6 hours later another but the unfortunate thing is unless your in the city for 6 plus hours or more you wont see anything impressive besides flowing water -... Maybe we would have been more impressed at high tide rather than low, but you gotta go when you can. Spent about two hours watching water run in one direction and then, very slowly, in another. Viewing area seems a bit sketchy and the scenery is industrial. Probably could have done without.

We saw it twice at the beginning and end of our tour of St John. It was one of the reasons to take the tour of the city. I have always heard of it. I am glad we got to see it. We then went to the Bay of Fundy at low tide and watched it rise.

After reading about the Reversing Falls on the internet we decided to go look at this natural wonder. It has a less than inviting viewing are and an ugly factory across the river. Not impressed.

Very interesting for our group. The high tide of the Bay of Fundy causes the river flow to reverse as the water from the Bay is forced upstream - this will cause a cascade to form in the reverse direction of the natural waterflow. However, if this description doesn't interest you - don't go! You will only see a cascade... More

When visiting Saint John, it is a must. With the new restaurant and the new visitors outlook opening next year it is an experience you will never forget.

Really check the times to be there- we were too late? and all we saw was swirling water. Instead of relying on the hotel staff for info, check elsewhere like a tourist information booth to get the correct times to be there.

We didn't get to see anything actually reversing, but did see a seal attempting to swim against the current and get upstream, which it eventually did. There were also some water birds on rocks, just hanging out. The water makes very interesting swirling patterns, too.

If you want to witness an amazing natural wonder then you have to see the reversing falls in St. John to believe it! It is a spectacular sight to see! I would recommend it to any nature lover to see this in person, you will not be disappointed!

You need to double-back to the falls, say six hours or so after your first visit, so you can see the tide reversing. The paper plant mars the pastoral scenery, but the beauty is undeniable, and the force of the water stunning.
