Overview
More
Stonehammer Geopark is located in Southern New Brunswick on the East Coast of Canada. Stonehammer Geopark is a geological park where you can experience a billion years of Earth’s history. The landscape of the Stonehammer Geopark has been created by the collision of continents, the closing and opening of oceans, volcanoes, earthquakes, ice ages and climate change. The rocks of our geopark have been witness to the evolution of life, from the first discovery of Precambrian stromatolite fossils, to the ‘Cambrian Explosion’ of life, to the evolution of vertebrates and the emergence of life on land. The geopark includes geological stories from late Precambrian time a billion years ago to the most recent Ice Age, and almost everything between.

This Geopark takes up a big chuck of southern NB with lots of different geographical experiences. Plan to do something else and admire the geography while doing it.

Pangea and stones from Morocco in New Brunswick, wow! This is a way to understand the geology and stone formations in a clear fashion. Better said, a complex concept in explained in a simple fashion.

Stone hammer Geopark is a nice place to walk around and view the rock formations cause by erosion from the Saint John River. There are very nice lookouts to view Reversing Falls.

Further evidence of the presence of Pangea, some of the exposed rock sources from far South America while others source from Africa. You must know what you're looking at or have a guide to show you the difference. Good for rock hounds

We stumbled upon this park by mistake. Very interesting history, lovely setting, they even have a restaurant there, which I was surprised to learn is run by a non-profit society. If I lived in Saint John, I would go often.

I was pumped to go to Stonehammer Geopark - the office is at the museum. Driving all the way here I was told that there is no actual 'geopark' the 'geos' are everywhere including Rockwood Park. It's not an actual thing.

Access the fundy Drive at St. Martins, and don't let the folks in Sussex visitor info tell you there's no place to stay in St. martins.

While I recall geology in high school it really isn't all that captivating to me. keeps my interest for the time it take to read the information board. I could see a definite interest to those more geologically inclined. Park is clean and well kept...More
