In the world of charming expansive bookstores rapidly disappearing this is a great place to go back to the cozy bookstore you remembered & get lost in for hours. With sections for all tastes this is a wonderful stop when you visit Victoria or a frequent stop if you live there. Tip: There is a wonderful kids section for the... More

I was trying to get my own book on to their shelves but was told, after a visit, that they take "only well known writers". So my question is - how does one become well known if a bookstore refuses to carry your book??!!

Munro's Bookstore is another great place to shop for books downtown and I'd say the best option after Russell Books. This place is smaller but great variety and recommendations from the staff who are very helpful here. Go have a look here too.

This is one of the "Go to Places" in the down town area for anyone seeking that special book. This heritage building is well worth a visit, even if you are not want to purchase that little something.

My hubby loves bookstores so we always have to stop and check them out whenever he finds one. He loves this place- and spent quite a bit of time there this trip combing through the shelves. It definitely has it's charm- wood floors- high ceilings. It has not just books but also quite nice little gift items. One down side... More

Lovely bookstore in beautiful building in downtown Victoria. Many of the books carry staff recommendations. I requested help finding local authors and purchased several fiction and nonfiction books written by local authors. Wish every city had a Munro's.

Sorry Amazon and Barnes and Noble but THIS is a bookstore. High, medallioned ceilings, wood floors, wood trim: this former bank building from 1909 draws readers in. Once inside you will find...wait for it...BOOKS. No fancy coffee bars, e-readers, or knickknacks, just shelves and shelves of books. The staff is awesome and encouraged us to browse and enjoy. What a... More

We happened to run across this store while in Victoria and were pleased with what they offered. The variety was excellent. I scored some Moleskine journals I had not been able to find locally.

This is a fantastic independent bookstore in a heritage building. They usually have what you want or are more than willing to order it for you from one of the very friendly and helpful staff. Plus, as an added bonus, you are supporting local!

This is the shop for lovers of books--there are no magazines, giftware or coffee bar. Housed in a heritage building (formerly a bank), it's a leisurely stroll from Inner Harbour. Interesting, lively neighbourhood. A comprehensive inventory but the knowledgeable staff will gladly order any title not in stock. Good selection of remainders (no trashy titles) and excellent children's department. Impossible... More
