This was the fourth consecutive year we have attended Vancouver's Goh Ballet production of 'The Nutcracker', at 'The Centre', and we were as "wowed" this time by it all, as we were the very first time!! The Centre was bright and sparkling in holiday spirit, and The Nutcracker ballet a sheer delight to the senses!! From the youngsters, to the... More

This theatre is located in Granville Island. They have many family shows available and reserve the late evening shows for adults only. They were putting on a Game of Thrones themed show and I was concerned that we wouldn't get the jokes as none of us had seen the show. It was a very funny show and we all laughed... More

As done in December last year, we attended the Sunday afternoon performance at 'The Centre', of Vancouver's Goh Ballet production of 'The Nutcracker'. Like last year, it was a special, much-enjoyed event, and such a great pre-Christmas treat. -- The Centre: was sparkling bright inside, with a small choir in the lower landing presenting some Christmas carols, before one had... It's now called "Westside Church" with religious performances on Sunday. Need to check it out one day. Looks like it's a lot more popular as a church than a Performing Arts centre.

This facility, once the proud home of live theatre, especially Broadway touring companies and International shows, went into Bankruptcy under Garth Drabinsky and the city took it over. They then recently sold it to be used as a church. The biggest hullabaloo was it happened right before Christmas and part of the agreement (hopefully ongoing) is that the Nutcracker, a... More

The The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts is now closed. They still have a Nutcracker at Christmas, but Broadway shows no longer show here.

We (a threesome - two seniors & daughter) went to The Centre last Sunday to attend an afternoon performance of this year's Goh Ballet production of 'The Nutcracker'. Like last year, it was a very special event, and this year, made even more special with the day being my birthday, and the event, my Christmas treat to my ladies!! The... More

The building is a beautiful place to see a multitude of arts. The sound is excellent, the viewpoints really good and the seats comfortable.

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
