Vanier Park is less than a mile from Granville Island and is walkable, but we took a taxi cause it was just too cold. The walk would be nice on a nice summer day. The museum was kind of interesting as it was more about the history of Vancouver than the ancient days of Vancouver. Good thing to do while... More

The park is perfect for a relaxing afternoon stroll or workout. There is a pathway right along the water that you can bike, walk or run along. It is dog friendly. The views of the city are GORGEOUS! Great for taking pics! Worth it just for the views.

Vanier Park is a nice place to go for a stroll, build sandcastles with the kids, let your dog run off leash, watch the sunset, look for crabs under the rocks, walk to Granville Island, read a book, relax, meditate, go canoeing or kayaking, play guitar, do yoga, look at the sailboats, or catch the Aqua ferry to downtown.

We visited Vanier Park recently on a lovely, sunny day in Vancouver. We took the ferry to the Maritime Museum, then walked along the lovely sea wall path from where there are great views back to the city, framed by the two bridges over False Creek. There are lovely views all the way as you carry on round to the... More

Poised at the edge of English Bay, Vanier Park boasts wonderful views of downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park. Tranquil ponds, open fields, and a wide pathway complement the outstanding waterfront experience. In addition there is a launching ramp for small craft and a nearby public marina. Civic buildings located on the main park include the Vancouver Museum and Planetarium and... More

Exploring the shore and the Heritage Harbour, using our ferry day pass, we stumbled across the park and the dog friendly beech. So many socialised dogs playing together and enjoying the beach with their owners was pleasure to watch, as the dogs ran and jumped in and out of the water. If you're an animal lover and a 'dog person'... More

Walk around, go to Bard on the Beach, enjoy the beautiful gardens in the pretty home of this lovely neighborhood. Just a great place to enjoy the Vancouver waterfront.

When visiting Vancouver, I highly recommend walking west from Granville Island, along the seawall. Walk past the popular Go Fish restaurant and Fishermen's Wharf, continue under the Burrard Street bridge to Vanier Park. There's an eagle's nest across from the Coast Guard station but the park itself is worth checking out. On a windy day, you'll see lots of kites... More

I really did pick the wrong time of year to visit this the most beautiful of cities, but then apparently, so I was told by locals that the weather here is much like my home town, a little bit inconsistent. I always felt sorry for tourists when they come to Dublin, you see them being rained on, trying to make... More

Staying in Granville Island & Fairview

Neighbourhood Profile
Granville Island & Fairview
One of the favoured neighbourhoods for a day out, Granville Island's packed theatres and art studios, hobby shops and book stores, restaurants and bars, all offer a plethora of activities and entertainment options, leaving no one bored. The highlight of the area is the Fisherman's Wharf, where the seagulls overhead and the smell of the sea invigorate its many visitors, some of who are there to shop the fresh wares at the public market, and others of whom have arrived to take in the eclectic atmosphere. A popular seafood destination, and Vancouver's leading spot for improv and amateur theatre, Granville Island is an indulgent, welcoming entertainment centre in any season or time of day.
